Muesli with Fruit & Yogurt

Muesli

Thanks to some of the nicest people that I have met, in the world, I had the opportunity to try muesli. Not sure what muesli is? Well, according to MindBodyGreen, it is "typically a dry cereal made from toasted whole-oats, nuts, fruit and wheat flakes." Which pretty much sums it up. There are a number of great combinations that you can make with muesli in order to have an excellent breakfast, or snack.

There are a lot of different types of muesli and some are better for you then others (like most things).  Make sure to do some research, like all things, before you dive into a bag of just any old muesli. Or, like MindBodyGreen says, make your own! Here's some info on soaking your oats.

Now, I just have a bag of muesli, like I said, that was given to me by some super, awesome people I know in Bethel, Maine. It is probably one of my favorite things to eat now!

Here are a couple of the ways that I like to eat my muesli.

Apples & Cinnamon -

I had a few organic apples in the fridge, thought I needed to use'em up, so I thinly sliced them, placed them over my muesli with milk and organic ground cinnamon. mmmm....

Bananas, Berries & Chia Seeds -

This bowl mostly contains Stonyfield whole vanilla yogurt, but I sliced up half a banana, two to three strawberries, and then through in a half a handful of blueberries. I used three tablespoons of muesli and a tablespoon of chia seeds to top it off.

*For added protein, I toasted an oatmeal english muffin and spread peanut butter on it as a side.  Since I am nursing right now, the extra calories help me feel full longer so I don't go overboard eating all day.
